This week The Boston Globe traveled to East Tennessee to find out how state residents felt about a possible impeachment of U.S. Republican President Donald Trump.
Specifically, the paper interviewed residents of Rutledge.
And, according to The Globe, people in this region of the state “are already weary” and call it “just another sign of partisanship and dysfunction in the nation’s capital.”
“They are more interested in everyday issues like health care, which many struggle to afford. And their fatigue from the D.C. scandal du jour suggests that Democrats’ formal impeachment inquiry could help Trump in places like this by feeding into his narrative that Washington is a corrupt, politicized swamp he is trying to clean up,” The Globe reported.
The paper quoted extensively from a recent town hall meeting.
“Many were quick to say they don’t like the way Trump talks, or some of the things he does, but they believe he has been good for the economy,” The Globe reported.
“The impeachment proceedings don’t change their support — or distaste — for him.”
According to TheKnoxNews.com, U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett, a Republican who represents Tennessee’s Second Congressional District, disagrees with the impeachment inquiry, going so far as to call it a “three-wing circus.”
“I don’t think anything’s really changed at all, actually,” the paper quoted Burchett as saying.
“I’m still opposed to the impeachment inquiry. I think Speaker Pelosi is — I realize she’s got to yield to her very liberal base, and they’re four ladies who have a great deal of control.”
The paper also quoted Burchett as saying Congress “isn’t addressing Americans’ concerns on issues like health care and immigration because of its fascination with impeachment and the Trump presidency.”
“We were talking about collusion with Russia last week,” Burchett reportedly said.
“The committee that meets is the same committee that’s been meeting since I was first elected, and they have not done one dadgum thing productive out of that committee that they’ve been assigned to do. They’ve just been hearing over this and rehashing old things.”

Tennesseans see thru the Democrats attempt to impeached Trump. The Democrats are in a state of Insanity. Which is if you don’t succeed the first time trying the same thing again and again hoping for different results. The latest attempt with a Second Whistleblower is another attempt at such insanity. They are following the Kavanaugh playbook, if the first person doesn’t work tried again with another person and fill the bucket up with more swamp water.
For one, government has no role in health care – none – just get government out of the picture and it will improve quickly. You want better health? Put the Mt. Dew back on the shelf and find a place to walk besides to and from the fridge.
For two, the dysfunction that these groundless inquiries produce is the objective – they want to paralyze the current administration so that they can’t pass meaningful legislation bent on dismantling the administrative state. The communists know it’s groundless, they don’t care. The point of it all is to induce dysfunction, chaos and distraction. Establishment Republican are slathering at the jowls rubbing their grubby little trotters right along with the communists – even more so in fact.
